Resumen (en inglés): For many decades, the lead-acid battery has been the most widely used energy-storage device for medium- and large-scale applications (approximately 100Wh and above). In recent years, the traditional, flooded design of the battery has begun to be replaced by an alternative design. This version - the valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery - requires no replenishment of the water content of the electrolyte solution, does not spill liquids, and can be used in any desired orientation. Since the VRLA battery operates in a somewhat different manner from its flooded counterpart, considerable technological development has been necessary to meet the exacting performance requirements of the full range of applications in which rechargeable batteries are used.

The valve-regulated design is now well established in the industrial battery sector, and also appears set to be adopted widely for automotive duty.

This book provides a comprehensive account of VRLA technology and its uses. In the future, all industrial processes - including the manufacture of batteries - will be required to conform to the conventions of sustainability. Resumen (en inglés): Zeolite synthesis is an active field of research. As long as this continues, new phases will be discovered and new techniques for preparing existing phases will appear. This edition of Verified Synthesis of Zeolitic Materials contains all the recipes from the first edition plus 24 new recipes. Five new introductory articles have been included plus those from the first edition, some of which have been substantially revised. The XRD patterns have been recorded using different instrument settings from those in the first edition and are intended to conform to typical X-ray diffraction practice. In most cases, only the XRD pattern for the productas synthesised is printed here. The exceptions are those phases which show marked changes in the XRD pattern upon calcination.

This is the only book on a novel fundamental method that uses quantum many body theoretical approach to synthesis of nanomaterials by design. This approach allows the first-principle prediction of transport properties of strongly spatially non-uniform systems, such as small QDs and molecules, where currently used DFT-based methods either fail, or have to use empirical parameters. The book discusses modified algorithms that allow mimicking experimental synthesis of novel nanomaterials---to compare the results with the theoretical predictions--and provides already developed electronic templates of sub-nanoscale systems and molecules that can be used as components of larger materials/fluidic systems.
